Visual Defence will provide mobile video surveillance solution to Stockholm Transport

Visual Defence, a provider of integrated security solutions over IP networks for the security and defense marketplace, will provide mobile video surveillance solution to Stockholm Transport (SL), the City of Stockholm's Public Transport Company.

The project will see the deployment of an innovative platform which combines Visual Defence's Digital Video Storage System mobile (DVSSm) with network cameras from Axis Communications. The scope of the project is to include up to 10,000 cameras and 2,500 DVSSm storage devices, all being centrally managed by Visual Defence's Command and Control Centre platform, the 3C.

The project is divided into two phases. Phase 1 will see the immediate deployment to 100 buses, with Phase II seeing the deployment to 2,400 buses in 2007.

Working within SL's bus environment, the DVSSm will act as a mobile video recorder and streamer, working in conjunction with Axis' network cameras that will provide high image quality and Power over Ethernet (PoE), resulting in cost efficient installations.
